Questions for Squid Face (Road Gambler podcast)

Hey guys, so as I mentioned I will be having a very interesting guest on my podcast within the next couple of episodes. "Squid Face" on 2+2 will be joining me for a discussion on blackjack, poker, road gambling and sharing some degen stories. If any of you have questions feel free to DM me or post here, I've gotten several questions from people on 2+2 that know about this podcast as well.

This guy has done more than just about every single one of us in the gambling world and has been a pro gambler of various forms for over 2 decades.

Started playing BJ seriously in 1992, transitioned into a full-time blackjack team traveling the world in 1997. They made a habit of traveling to newly opened casinos where things weren't as developed/easier to take advantage of. Their team played blackjack at the highest stakes.

After blackjack dried up a little, he transitioned into full-time poker in 2004, starting off playing online cash games eventually transitioning into live poker in Las Vegas.

Now resides in Florida, living a semi-retired, recreation heavy lifestyle.

Some questions I'll be asking just to get the ball rolling -

Blackjack-
biggest heater/downswing, any backstabs/team drama
drunken stories spending way too much money on nonsense/worst purchase ever
scary backroom moments in foreign countries
how real is "camouflage", do dealers/pit bosses know or suspect?
How viable is it today? Everyone selling blackjack strategies is effectively scamming? Any beatable games anywhere with the new technology?
overview of techniques used to gain an edge

Poker-
Changes in both online and live poker over the years. New influx of "internet kids" to live poker. Games getting tougher.
How great were the glory days?
Young guys going pro - good idea?
Casino environment draining

General
BRM/shot taking/work ethic etc.
How to "make it" in poker

If you guys have anything to add - please do.

How to minimize cash expenses/maximize comps when on the road. (Play bigger haha!)

I’m assuming all the black jack is covered by casino comps plus he’s on a team playing big so expenses aren’t as big a deal but poker it can matter more.

Thank you, looking forward to this one. Can these maybe be special longer podcasts since it’s an interview?

It will certainly be longer than my typical podcast length.

I've only done one interview before but I will plan on covering everything there is to cover and not worrying too much about length on these guest ones.

What is the most important trait a gambler has to have for long term stability. Also what traits do yo respect in others.

Thanks. Excited to hear this interview.

I know it is a bit cliche, but whenever I hear stories like this, I always wonder: Any regrets? If he could do it all over again, would he do it all over again? I know that for someone to make a living doing this, they need to be WICKEDLY smart and have some level of savvy that would translate well into other endeavors. Basically, was the juice worth the squeeze?

    Excited for this podcast.
